MEET MILTON BONDS JR

Milton Bonds Jr. is a dedicated law enforcement professional and respected community leader, proudly born and raised in the Whitehaven community of Memphis, Tennessee. A graduate of Hillcrest High School, Milton met his high school sweetheart, Tameka, during those formative years—an enduring love story that continues to this day through their marriage, shared family, and mutual commitment to service.

Milton currently serves as a Supervisor with the Memphis Police Department’s Sex Crimes Bureau, where he oversees several critical units: the Digital Forensic Unit (DFU), Sex Offender Registry, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), and the Human Trafficking Task Force. His journey in law enforcement began in June 1997, and he was officially commissioned as a police officer on June 21, 1999.

Throughout his distinguished career, Lieutenant Bonds has held a variety of impactful roles, including assignments in Uniform Patrol, Precinct Task Force, Community Policing, the C.O.P. Unit, and as an investigator in the Sex Crimes Bureau. In 2021, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, continuing his leadership within the Sex Crimes Unit.

Milton is a proud alumnus of the University of Memphis, where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice. His technical expertise is underscored by his certifications as a Certified Computer Forensic Examiner (2019) and a Certified Mobile Device Examiner (2021), both granted by the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS). Notably, he is the only Certified Digital Forensic Examiner supervisor currently serving within the Memphis Police Department.

In addition to his law enforcement duties, Milton is actively engaged in both professional and civic organizations. He is a member of the Afro-American Police Association and the Memphis Police Association, where he previously served on the Board of Directors, representing Police Investigators, Community Policing, and the South Precinct. He also serves as the Polemarch of the Memphis Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Beyond his professional life, Milton is a devoted husband, father of two adult daughters, and a proud grandfather to a beautiful eleven-year-old granddaughter. His life is a testament to leadership, service, and the lasting impact of community commitment.
